In Copenhagen (and I think it's similar in most of Denmark) there's a fireproof cupboard in the basement of my apartment building for hazardous waste. Houses have a small red box they can leave out if they have something.

Making hazardous waste disposal inconvenient seems like a good way to have it end up in the normal waste stream.

Oh very much so. By the time I finally got to a hazardous waste day early enough to make it tolerable, the milk crate full of various poisons and extremely flammable toxins I had would have put low-level terrorist orgs to shame. I might as well have had a glowing suitcase.

The bug report I filed several months ago hasn't been looked at. Many of these utilities were released and made the default for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS!

The law changed in 1994 requiring appliances to be sold with the plug attached.

Mostly I’m happy about that, but you can’t remove the plug from dead appliances anymore and keep it (along with the 48 other “spares”) now they are all moulded plastic.

Copenhagen is littered with electric hire bikes, very often just a few steps from a bike rack with empty spaces.

Only one of the companies makes users photograph the bike to show it's been returned to a suitable spot.

Photographing bikes or electric scooters does nothing without enforcement through the city. It allows tracking down the person who placed it wrong, but in the absence of fines through the city, the rental companies surely won't start fining their customers and drive them away.

The Lime app (bikes and scooters) refuses to close down a trip if you enter an area where parking is forbidden or if the picture shows that the vehicle is blocking the sidewalk or pedestrian paths.

It will also 100% forward you a fine if they get one and their records show you were the last user who misplaced it.

That has only partially mitigated much smaller attacks (residential proxy scraping etc) on my employer's site.

We're currently on the "Business" plan, but I'm coming to the conclusion that we need to upgrade to the "Enterprise Advantage" plan for the JA3/4 fingerprinting and detection ID features.

I get put off by "Contact Sales" pricing.

Here's my take:

* JA3s are mostly useless. JA4s supersede them entirely.

* Using JA4s in rate limits is pretty useful and helps a lot against proxy scraping. It was not very helpful in this attack.

* Bot detections are somewhat helpful but they don't solve scrapers/attacks by themselves. They're useful as a 2nd/3rd data point (eg. low bot score + bot detection + something else)

isn't JA4 also useless because it is so easy to spoof tls. For eg. cycletls for nodejs etc..

It will probably be useless one day. In practice, it is still useful today though not for this attack.

There's also the JA4+ suite (https://github.com/FoxIO-LLC/ja4), in addition to standard JA4.

Yep curl cffi accurately spoofs JA4 for chrome. You need to detect client side as well.

At the level of wealth of owning one of these yachts, hotels will ensure they have the bed and pillows you want, and your PA will arrange it when booking the hotel.

I would equate the wooden cabinet to the PC's metal case — the ore must be mined, the metal extracted, etc etc.

Once you've done that, just add the computer chips.
